Welding Alternators

Generators

IEC has developed a series of Welding Alternators for MIG Welding and ARC Welding.

MIG (Metal Inert Gas) Welding Systems

IEC has developed a Diesel engine driven rotating welding generator for outdoor MIG welding application. IEC manufactures state of the art single & double bearing permanent magnet generators with accessories for MIG welding. These generators are to be coupled to Diesel engines.

The output of the Generator is directly used for MIG welding. It does not require any external power source & hence the MIG welding can be carried out at remote places where there is no power supply. The MIG Welding generators confirms to the requirements as per IS 10178.

Salient features

  • The DC output voltage has a low ripple content.
  • Depending on wire size, the output voltage is adjustable by varying the speed of the diesel engine.
  • The power for wire drive is derived from the DG battery only when the system is operating. The voltage for wire drive will be constant irrespective of the welding current which makes the wire speed constant.
  • A separate potentiometer is available for adjusting the speed of the wire drive.
  • An auxiliary output of the generator is used for gas heating. The heater is of DC supply.
  • The Welding generator can be coupled to any Diesel engine.
  • A separate remote speed controller supplied along with the generator is required to be fitted to the engine for adjusting the speed depending upon the size of the welding wire.

ARC Welding Systems

IEC manufactures state of the art single & double bearing permanent magnet generators with accessories for ARC Welding applications. These alternators are to be coupled to Diesel engines. The Welding generators confirms to the requirements as per IS 2635.

The output of the Generator is directly used for ARC welding. It does not require any external power source & hence the ARC welding can be carried out at remote places where there is no power supply.

Salient features

  • The DC output voltage has a low ripple content.
  • Depending on welding rod size, the output voltage is adjustable by varying the speed of the diesel engine.
  • The Welding generator can be coupled to any Diesel engine.
  • A separate remote speed controller supplied along with the generator is required to be fitted to the engine for adjusting the speed depending upon the size of the welding wire.

Advantages of Rotating Welding Generator

  • Since the generator is operating on variable speed, the fuel efficiency is extremely high.
  • The efficiency of the system will be very high as a very low BHP Engine compared to existing systems.
  • Capital cost is much lower compared to standard available systems as a very low BHP engine can be used.
  • Since the system is operating at low speed for most of the time depending on wire size, the mechanical wear & tear will be very less.
